Jodo Results from BKA Jodo TaiKai 2008
Watson Sensei would like to personally thank all participants who attended, the judges and the floor managers. As I said on the day, it would be great to see a larger attendance on this taikai year on year, not necessarily to put people under taikai pressure but to allow students of Jodo to see it outside of their own dojos, to practice with others and participate in a central event. This is one of the cheapest BKA events to attend and yet surely must be one of the most effective tools for both preparing oneself for a grading as well as for general. The results are attached here.
Gradings at Darlington
Goodman Sensei has put out a reminder that grading applications for the Darlington Seminar must be in by 1 August.
Masamune Advanced Training - September 2008 - Birmingham
Following requests in early April, Sensei Goodman has agreed to hold a one day seminar in Birmingham looking at old style, in particular, Omori Ryu and Eishin Ryu. Time permitting we may have a look at some Ocuden Iaido. To help people obtain a deeper understanding and the differences between Muso Jikiden Ryu and Muso Shinden Ryu forms, Alan Nash Sensei will be working with Goodman Sensei. We aim to good insight from both perspectives. This insight will also help those students and teachers who will soon be eligible to act a referee and make a well informed decision when judging competitors. This also applies to those taking a high grade examination where choosing an old style form is compulsory.
This is an open event to all students both Jikiden and Shinden graded Shodan and above. The event will be held on Saturday 27 September (venue to be confirmed) and for those who wish to stay the weekend we will continue the theme Sunday morning 28 September at the Masamune Dojo Birmingham University. We will also organise a good restaurant (very reasonable price!) on the Saturday evening for those who wish to stay.
Please contact jbaxter@scream.co.uk to book your place the fee is £20 per person for the day and £12 for training on the Sunday. - Thank you
Summer Camp - Stevenage
It has been announced that this years Summer Camp will be held in Stevenage this year rather than Brighton. The event will be held in 17-22 August.
Training Sessions
TUESDAY 19:30-20:30 - Informal Training Session - Tachi Uchi no Kurai, Niten Ichi Ryu, Jodo, Koryu Iai, or general practice
TUESDAY 20:30-22:00 - Regular Iaido Training Session
SUNDAY 10:30-11:30 - Regular Jodo Training Session
SUNDAY 11:30-13:00 - Regular Iaido Training Session
The cost of each training session is £6. Please note that Iaido is not suitable for young children owing to the environment in which we practice. Young children and lots of sharp swords do not mix well. If you are under 18 your parent or guardian should speak to Sensei first, who will advise about suitability for Iaido training.
If you are an experienced Iaidoka, and wish to visit the Dojo, please be sure to contact Goodman Sensei in advance so that you can be welcomed appropriately.
